The Rollerblade® Speed Team: Success in 2018

After seven months of dedicated training and intense racing the Rollerblade® Speed Team can definitely call 2018 a huge success.  There were more than 30 podiums this season, some of them unforgetable. Under the lead of Ewen Fernandez, the team camaraderie was clearly evident at every race. At the same time, each member improved their individual levels of athletic performance over the seven month season.

It all began in March at several very diverse races. The first win came from Ewen Fernandez at the National Indoors. A few days later the team was outdoors in rainy Treviso, their home turf. It was a completly different race, but the same winner, Ewen, took the win again. Ewen showed it was possible to perform well anywhere and in any conditions : indoor, track, in the rain, hilly marathons, and even at 100k races!

Race after race, the team became stronger and more in sync. The strengthened links between the skaters led them to win the Three Tracks Trophy and to take a silver medal on the track of Heerde (both Europa Cups).

The young guns also proved they were quickly progressing with the team. Doucelin Pédicone won in Madrid and Quentin Giraudeau took medals at the European Championship. Mike Paez solidified his accomplishments by winning various podiums at the Central American Games. To top it off, Guillaume de Mallevoue captured an important win at the Lyon Marathon, as well as fourth place in Berlin.

The Rollerblade® Speed Team won the overall team ranking of the so called Coupe de France Marathon Roller, the inline marathon’s French Cup. It also finished second of the World Inline Cup ranking. Ewen Fernandez concluded the season with a second place in Berlin, a second place at the overall ranking of the World Inline Cup, and a first place at the overall ranking of the French Cup.

We can’t expect from being in 2019!
