Explain the feeling you had the first time you put on skates.
I have two older brothers that got into skating way before I was allowed. This only added to the suspense. When that day arrived and I received my own I was slightly disappointed in my mother having been bought non aggressive skates. My brothers, feeling sorry for me, hand cut the break off the back and drilled in a sole plate on the side. Happy Days!
What is your inspiration to keep skating!
Back then my inspiration to keep skating was my brothers. However, now having got back into rollerblading the past two years, it’s seeing Danny Aldridge riding fast through the streets. That has been a huge inspiration for me.
We truly believe skating makes a better world. How do you think skating makes the world a better place?
I see people riding round on electrical scooters these days in the city. I like to think skating is an activity that’s inspiring people to get out an push around as a form of fitness because it’s fun. To be explorative with the way they choose to get around and with results of a Healthy body! A healthy body equals a healthy mind; a healthy mind equals a healthy environment!
How do you keep progressing and reinventing yourself?
By always living with a childlike sense of wonder. I love to try new things and try not to allow the practice to define how I see myself. I see myself as a beginner in everything I do and I find this type of mindset not only enables me to enjoy a type of learning but also to experience a greater sense of freedom to explore new ideas.
What’s the most helpful tip you want to share with any skater?
Try Parqour!
Imagine a world filled with animal who can skate. If you could be any of those animals what would you be and why?
I guess I’d be a gibbon, because those long arms could be useful in creating some interesting lines! Hahaha
