Celebrating 10 Years of Hydrogen Wheels!

Rollerblade® is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Hydrogen wheel.  Our best-in-class wheel was created by skaters in response to the desire to have high-quality wheels that matched the craftmanship of our skates.  We spoke to Rollerblade®’s director of global product development, Ronnie Kuliecza, to learn the story behind these coveted wheels.

Why did Rollerblade® create Hydrogen Wheels?
Rollerblade® makes high quality skates, so a natural progression was to make a wheel that we wanted to put on our skates. As skaters, we wanted to make wheels that match the performance levels of the rest of the skates.

Did you see a gap in the market?  Why are Hydrogen wheels the best wheels?
Our goal is to deliver the best skate experience out of the box.  Hydrogen wheels are a game changer because the wheels last longer, are more resilient and have more rebound. Using a proprietary technology, we worked with an expert wheel developer to make Hydrogen wheels that have unmatched performance, power and response.

Hydrogen wheels are made in the USA - why is that important?
Not only are these made in a factory with decades of experience, having them made in the United States gives us more control over the quality. We worked to create proprietary formulas that are specific for inline skating and the highest-quality materials that provide the best performance.

How have the wheels evolved over time?
Over the past 10 years, we continue to push ourselves to ensure that the wheels are meeting or exceeding our stringent expectations. This includes using specific formulas for different disciplines and now we are making wheels from 60 MM to 125 MM.  Check out all our Hydrogen wheels on our website!

What's next for Hydrogen wheels?  How will you keep evolving them?
At Rollerblade®, we are always challenging ourselves to deliver the best products. This includes trying new formulas and continuing to push ourselves to improve grip, longevity and reduce vibration.
